Ministry to University Students

In addition to our Community Soup micro-grants program, University Presbyterian Church offers a variety of other opportunities for growth and fellowship for university students. All church luncheons are complimentary for students, and seating is reserved for the university student group to gather.

Dinner and Bible Study

The Rev. Stuart Buisch of Campus Church ConneXion also offers Bible study and a light meal on Wednesday nights (usually twice a month).

Volunteer Opportunities

Looking for volunteer opportunities? University students are eligible to apply for Community Soup grants to conduct service projects to benefit the City of Buffalo and may also volunteer in the food pantry located in the church (current hours are Tuesdays and Thursdays 11:30 AM to 4:30 PM).

Spiritual Centering

Looking for a quiet place of prayer and spiritual centering? The First Friday Taizé Service (meditative songs, prayers, candles, and scripture readings) provides just that on the first Friday of each month from 5:30 to 6:00 PM.

Fellowship Events

The university student group also has fun outside of church! Fellowship events in the past have included movie nights, state park outings, ice skating, visiting different churches, and meeting for dinner.

The Manse Program Residence for Students

One component of University Church's ministry with university and college students is an intentional Christian living experience for students in a house right next to the church.  Called the "Manse Program" because it uses what was long ago the pastor's house (the "manse"), this program houses up to four university students who live in community and seek to grow together in their Christian faith.  Residents of the program, both undergraduate as well as graduate students, volunteer in various community service projects and participate in the worship and ministries of our congregation.

Students who are interested in being part of the Manse Program should contact the church office for further information about the application process.
